Q. Can you tell me the cheapest way to watch the Great American Family channel? We are on Social Security and have a small budget for entertainment. Please let us know a good option for paying very little or nothing! — Gina, Nashville.

Gina, for those not familiar with the channel, Great American Family is a basic cable network that focuses on general entertainment including movies and TV series. Available on such satellite and cable services as Dish, DIRECTV, Cox, Spectrum and Comcast, the show features programming that is suitable for the entire family with the current schedule dominated by Christmas-related shows and movies such as Christmas Sweethearts, My Favorite Christmas Tree, A Merry Christmas Wish and Aisle Be Home For Christmas. You can see more GAF shows here.

Unfortunately, Great American Family is not available on a free streaming service such as Pluto TV or Tubi. It’s also not available as a separate app like HBO or Showtime. You can only find it as part of a multi-channel pay TV service.

However, one of those multi-channel pay TV services that carries Great American Family is Frndly, which has 40 live cable channels, starting at just $6.99 a month. But note the cheapest plan only includes the 40 channels in standard-definition, and the capacity to watch on one device at a time.

The $8.99 a month plan includes High-Definition, two screens at a time, and unlimited DVR recording which you can store for up to three months. The $10.99 a month package includes high-def, four screens at a time, and unlimited DVR recording which can be stored for up to nine months.
