Best Buy is now selling a Insignia 39-inch Smart (720p) HDTV with Fire TV inside for $99, which is $130 off the regular price. (Update: The deal is no longer available.)

Admittedly, a 39-inch HDTV is not something to get overly excited about; we believe watching movies necessitates a big screen. But any Smart TV for $99 is a good deal, particularly when it comes with Fire TV which offers thousands of channels, including many free ones. (There’s always a back bedroom that can use a new TV, right?)

By comparison, Amazon is now charging $149 for this TV.

Insignia, which is Best Buy’s company brand, is not a premier quality product, to be sure. But as noted here in our article, ‘Does Name Brand Matter?,‘ the difference in brands with a smaller-screen TV is minimal. You’ll basically get the same picture, although the better-quality brand, such as LG or Samsung, might offer a set that lasts longer.

This Insignia set, model NS-39DF310NA21, includes a voice remote with Alexa so you can search for your favorite stars and films with a simple word or two.
