We reported yesterday that TV manufacturers have jumped the gun on slashing prices on big-screen TVs in advance of the holiday rush. Amazon is selling a Sony 65-inch 4K TV for just $599, and an elite LG OLED 55-inch set for $1,396. And now we’ve found a 2020 model Sony 75-inch 4K TV for under $1,000.

The monster-sized TV, model X800H, comes with the following features:

* Dolby Vision 4K HDR, the standard used by streamers Netflix and Amazon Prime, among others;
* 4K HDR Processor X1 which upscales high-def programming to near-4K images;
* Game Mode, which promises a smoother and more responsive gaming experience for your Play Station or XBox;
* Smart Android TV with both Google Assistant and Alexa voice controls;
* Apple Airplay 2 support enabling you to cast shows from mobile devices to the big screen.

Amazon’s customer ratings give the Sony TV a score of 4.6 out of a possible 5, based on 1,086 reviews. Rtings.com, a technology site which reviews televisions, gives the TV an overall score of 7.1.

“The Sony X800H is a decent overall TV. It’s a pleasant upgrade over its predecessor, the Sony X800G, thanks to its great peak brightness, very good viewing angles, and amazing out-of-box color accuracy,” the site states. “The black uniformity is only decent and although its contrast ratio isn’t bad for an IPS panel TV, blacks still look gray in dark rooms. The response time is good and gray uniformity is good with minimal dirty screen effect, so fast-moving objects look clear. Gamers will appreciate the incredibly low input lag, but unfortunately, it doesn’t support any variable refresh rate technology. Also, the Android TV’s Google Play Store is easy to use with a ton of apps available, and the remote has a built-in Google Assistant button.”
