What do the critics think of the LG TV?
Rtings.com, which reviews televisions, gave a 55-inch version of the LG UN7000 an overall score of 6.6 out of a possible 10. That’s not OLED quality, but not bad for a $499 65-inch TV:
“The LG UN7000 is an okay entry-level TV that has a basic design and limited features,” the site states. “It’s available in many different sizes, and you can get it either with an IPS or VA panel, depending on which size you get. The 55 inch model we reviewed has an IPS panel that provides wide viewing angles, but it has a low contrast ratio that makes blacks appear closer to gray when viewed in the dark. It’s a 4k TV, but because it uses a less-accurate RGBW sub-pixel structure, it doesn’t properly display 4k content and there are some artifacts. It supports HDR10, but HDR content doesn’t look all that different from SDR content. It doesn’t get very bright in HDR and it fails to display a wide color gamut for HDR content. Fortunately, it performs well in moderately-lit rooms as it has great reflection.”
